Sushi Lounge

København K, DK

‘The entrance lobby should act as an extension of the company’s core DNA while also being an inspiring functional place to work.’

Located in a back building in Central Copenhagen is home to Sticks’n’Sushi’s head office in Denmark. The property was initially used as a series of workspaces and a test kitchens featuring industrial concrete floors, white kitchen tiles and large walk-in fridges. Due to the growth in the company, the test kitchen has since been relocated to larger premises and this former entrance / storage and loading area was transformed into a functional and attractive space for both guest and staff to gather or work throughout the day.

In keeping with the the clients DNA, quality materials, good craftsmanship and a timeless aesthetic were fundamental to the scheme. A sleek sofa in beautifully tactile tan nubuck leather is cocooned by floor to ceiling linen curtains that wrap around two walls to meet a finely spindled oak bookshelf. The spindles hang from the ceiling to support suspended shelves that step down dynamically displaying a collection of ceramics and books. This shelving system in an art piece in itself and helps to draw people into the space. Two cuddly bouclé armchairs face a curved black marble topped coffee table that sits on a chunky seagrass rug. An ash floor lamp sits comfortably in the curve of the curtain, elongating and illuminating the space. The materials are deliberately eclectic yet complimentary to give an authentic, relaxed vibe.
